OHS Weekly Sports Recap

The Girls Volleyball team had a strong week with two wins added to their record. In their first game of the week against Decatur, they won in two sets. The first set was 25-19, and the second set was 25-12. On Thursday against Prairie Central, the team won in three sets, winning the first one 25-13 and winning the third 25-19. Hopefully, they can keep the momentum going into next week.

Girls Swim also had a strong week. On Saturday the top four swimmers from the team were chosen to compete in five races at the LaSalle Peru High School Pentathlon. These four swimmers were Madilyn Noreuil, Kailey Little, Nora Collins, and Isabelle Forrest and they came out with a first-place team finish. On Thursday the swim team had another meet where Isabelle Forrest got a PR of 6:05 in the 500 free.

Both Boys and Girls Cross Country had only one meet during the week which was on Saturday at the Richard Spring/Peoria Notre Dame Invite, which had over 2000 runners competing in it. Every person from both teams PRd at the race. Girls Golf got fourth out of seven teams at the Illini Prairie Conference Tournament on Tuesday, scoring 432 overall. Then at Madison Golf Course on Wednesday, the girls got second out of three teams, with overall scores of 201 and 231.

Boys Soccer and Football all had a tough week, coming out with no wins. The soccer team’s hardship is a lack of players making it tough to sub in and out their starting players. All levels of the football teams have injuries, and while some players can play it has still had an impact on the team. Hopefully, next week is better for these two teams and they can work past these obstacles to add some wins to their record.
