2021 Minier Christmas Parade

With Christmas fast approaching, there are so many ways to celebrate the holiday. Going back at least 80 years, one of the longest-running parades in the state, the Minier Christmas Parade has become a local tradition to celebrate Christmas. This year the parade was held on November 27th with the theme “Minier Memories”. Three of the four suspects accused in the October shooting of Rebecca and Douglas Bolin appeared again in Tazewell County Court on Wednesday November 24th. Andre Street appeared in person, arriving in handcuffs, and escorted by an armed guard. OHS Speech Team Scores at Tournament

As many other sports and activities start to get rolling for the winter season, so does the Speech Team. While it is still early in their season, they have had three tournaments so far with a lot of success. On the 20th the team competed in the Richwoods tournament where they had seven Varsity Finalists, four JV Finalists, and as a team they placed 5th overall. His children, John and Jim, continued the family legacy until Don Peasley took over in September 2006. Now, the funeral home has been independently owned and operated by Don Peasley, a funeral director since 1993. The National Football League has been playing games on Thanksgiving Day since its inception in 1920. The NFL’s Thanksgiving Day games have traditionally included one game hosted by the Detroit Lions since 1934, one game hosted by the Dallas Cowboys since 1966, and a third prime-time game has been played since 2006. This prime-time game has no fixed host and features different teams every year, mainly consisting of division rivals ever since 2012. This year the Lions host the Bears, the Cowboys host the Raiders, and the primetime game will be the Bills against the Saints in New Orleans. Since the NFL has been playing games on Thanksgiving Day, there has only been one team to not play on the holiday, the Jacksonville Jaguars.   READ MORE...

To finish up the Turkey Tussle tournament, the Varsity girls’ basketball team played against Riverton on Thursday. This game was a close battle the whole night, with the Spartans pulling ahead with the win by just one point. The Olympia Spartans then advanced to the third-place game at Clinton High School on Saturday. From the other bracket, Olympia matched up against Clinton.
